  The mural at right is 15' x 12', painted in 1999 directly on to a retaining wall in an inner courtyard of an apartment building on Alamo Square in San Francisco, California.
 
 

 
Image at left shows the mural project in progress, integrating the rough surface of the concrete wall.  Image above shows the completed mural.
 

 
As the mural progressed, many life forms emerged from the sea of concrete, as can be discerned from the fragment in the close-up at right.
